Every template is set to a real paper size, puts your UPI ID under the code, and makes the QR big enough to scan from where your customers stand. Print at home, save as a PDF for the print shop, or download a 300 DPI PNG.
Templates and the QR size on each
| Template | Paper size | Best for | QR width (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Counter standee | A5, 148 × 210 mm | Shop counter, clinic or salon desk | 9–11 cm |
| Poster | A4, 210 × 297 mm | Wall, window, notice board, wedding welcome board | 13–15 cm |
| Square sticker | 100 × 100 mm | Cart, fridge, door, delivery bag | 4–6 cm |
| Round sticker | 80 mm across | Small surfaces, product packs, the back of an auto | 3–4 cm |
| A4 sheet, 2 per page | Cards of 118 × 138 mm | Two large counter cards | 5.5–7.5 cm |
| A4 sheet, 4 per page | Cards of 98 × 140 mm | Counter cards that fit A6 stands | about 6–7 cm |
| A4 sheet, 6 per page | Stickers of 90 × 90 mm | Shelf and door stickers | 3.5–5.8 cm |
| A4 sheet, 9 per page | Cards of 62 × 88 mm | Visiting-card size | about 4 cm |
| A4 sheet, 12 per page | Mini stickers of 60 × 64 mm | Close-range use only | 3–3.8 cm |
The range depends on the style you pick (Professional or Bahi-khata) and on what else is on the card: adding a fixed amount or a second language line makes the code a little smaller so everything fits. The preview is scaled to fit your screen; the table gives the printed size.
Designing your own card? The QR should be about a tenth of the distance it's scanned from, and never smaller than 2.5 cm.
The full size guide, with the reasons
Which template for which place
Counter standee (A5) for a kirana shop, chemist, bakery, clinic reception or salon desk: anywhere people queue and scan from a step back.
Poster (A4) for the wall behind the counter, a shop window, a classroom door, a society notice board or a wedding welcome board. Mount it at chest height.
Square sticker for a vegetable cart, a delivery bag, a fridge door at a PG or a stall's front panel.
Round sticker for small surfaces where people hold their phone close.
A4 sheet when you need several cards at once. Choose "Same QR on every card" for spares (up to 10 pages), or "Different QRs" for several counters, staff members or flats: up to 30 different UPI IDs and 120 cards in all.
For a café with one code per table, make the codes in Bulk with the table number as the note, so you can see which table paid.
What's on the cards
Most templates print:
- Your shop name, large, above the code.
- The QR, with its white margin kept clear.
- "Scan & pay with any UPI app", so nobody wonders whether their app works.
- Your UPI ID under the code, so someone can pay by typing it when their camera struggles. NPCI's brand guidelines ask merchants to show the UPI ID below the QR.
- The amount, if you fixed one, such as "₹2,500".
The Bahi-khata stickers keep it simpler: "Scan to pay", the code and your UPI ID (the round one has no amount).
A second language line is added in Hindi by default; switch it to Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam or Punjabi, or to English only. On Professional cards it replaces the English "Scan & Pay with any UPI App" line. Have someone who reads the language check it before you print a batch.
The name customers will see. Type it in the "Name customers will see" box, for example RAKESH K SHARMA, and the card prints "You'll see RAKESH K SHARMA when you pay." Since June 2025, UPI apps show the payer the name from your bank's records, so this line tells customers exactly what to check before they enter their PIN. It is printed on the card only; it isn't put into the QR.
Protect it from QR swaps
The most common QR fraud at shops isn't high-tech. Someone pastes their own QR over yours, and payments go to them until you notice. In January 2025, police in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, arrested a man after codes outside 10 to 12 shops were swapped overnight. A medical-store owner caught it when a customer said the name on the payment screen had changed.
Laminate it. A sticker on top of matte lamination is easier to spot and to peel off.
Keep it where you can see it. A standee facing you on the counter is hard to tamper with. A poster on an outside wall is easy.
Print or write the name customers should see. When the screen says something else, customers stop and tell you.
Scan your own code every morning. Ten seconds when you open the shop catches a swap on day one instead of day ten.
Print it right
Print at 100% or "Actual size". "Fit to page" shrinks the QR and makes it harder to scan.
Save as PDF for a print shop: choose "Save as PDF" in the print window with margins set to None, and turn on "Background graphics" so the coloured header prints.
Tick "Add 3 mm bleed and crop marks" if the print shop will cut the card to size.
Use the PNG (300 DPI for a single card) when someone asks for an image file.
Matte, not glossy. Gloss throws a highlight across the code under a tube light, right where the phone needs to read.
Leave the white margin alone. Don't let a frame, a sticker or your own branding run into the border around the code.
Getting it printed
At a local print shop, send the PDF on WhatsApp and ask for thick card (around 300 gsm) with matte lamination. For a standee, ask for a matte acrylic or sunboard backing. If the shop is designing its own card, give them the SVG of your QR from the generator so it stays sharp.
At home, print on the thickest paper your printer takes, at 100% scale. Check that the printed QR is about the size given in the table above.
Stickers: use A4 sticker paper and cut along the dashed lines.
Outdoors, use vinyl with a matte overlaminate. Paper fades and curls in sun and rain.
Before you print a batch
- Scanned the code on screen with two different UPI apps
- Printed one test copy and scanned it from where customers will stand, in the shop's light
- Printed at 100% scale
- White margin clear on all four sides
- Dark code on a light background, matte finish
- UPI ID visible under the code
- Second-language line checked by someone who reads it
- The name customers will see written on the card
Print two. When the first one tears, you swap it the same day.
Questions
Which template should I use for a shop?
The A5 counter standee for most counters. The A4 poster for a wall or window. Square stickers for carts and doors.
What size is the QR on an A4 poster?
About 13–15 cm wide, depending on the style. That scans comfortably from a metre or more away.
Can I print a UPI QR on a sticker?
Yes. Use the square or round sticker, or an A4 sheet of 6 or 12. Print on matte sticker paper or vinyl and keep it where it won't get scuffed.
Why won't my printed QR scan?
Usually it's printed too small, "fit to page" shrank it, the margin was cropped, or a glossy finish is catching light. The size guide goes through each fix.
How do I stop someone pasting their QR over mine?
Laminate the card, keep it where you can see it, write the name customers should see on it, and scan your own code every morning.
Is there a watermark?
A small "ezyupi.com" line at the bottom of most cards. Nothing covers the code.
Can I put my logo in the middle?
Not on these templates: they print a plain, high-contrast code. For a logo, add it in the generator's "Customise the QR" panel, download the PNG or SVG, and have it placed on your own card design. Test a printed copy before you order a batch.
Scan karke payment kare poster kaise banaye?
Pehle apna UPI QR banaiye, phir A4 poster template chuniye. Usmein QR lagbhag 13–15 cm ka banta hai, jo door se bhi scan ho jaata hai. Upar dukaan ka naam aata hai aur QR ke neeche aapki UPI ID. "Print / PDF" dabaiye, 100% size par print kijiye, aur matte lamination karwaiye. Glossy mat lijiye, kyunki tube light ki chamak mein glossy QR jaldi scan nahi hota.
