UPI QR code generator: your UPI ID, ready to print

Type your UPI ID and your QR code appears. Print it for the counter, add a fixed amount for fees or rent, or share a pay link on WhatsApp.

Find it in your UPI app under Profile, or below your QR.

ezyupi only writes the UPI code. Payments go straight to your bank, and we never see them.

It's free, there's no signup, and the money goes straight from your customer's UPI app to your bank account.

How to make a UPI QR code in three steps

1. Type your UPI ID

It's the address you see in Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or your bank's app, something like 9876543210@ybl. You'll find it on your app's profile screen, or printed under the QR you already use.

Where to find your UPI ID

No UPI ID? Switch to the Bank account tab and enter your account number and IFSC instead. Some apps, PhonePe and Paytm among them, often refuse account-number codes, so a UPI ID is the safer choice when you have one.

2. Add an amount and a note, if you want

Leave the amount blank and the payer types it, which suits a shop counter. Fix it at ₹2,500 with the note "Fees Oct, Aarav" and it becomes a tuition bill you can send to a parent. A single code can carry up to ₹1,00,000.

3. Download, print or share

Download a PNG for WhatsApp and screens, an SVG for printing, copy the pay link, or send it on WhatsApp in one tap.

What's inside a UPI QR code

A UPI QR code is one short line of text drawn as squares. It follows the format NPCI, the organisation that runs UPI, publishes for every app. Underneath, a code made here looks like this:

upi://pay?pa=rakesh@okhdfcbank&pn=Rakesh%20Sharma&am=250.00&cu=INR&tn=Order%2042
  • pa is your UPI ID, the part that decides where the money goes.
  • pn is a name, if you add one.
  • am is a fixed amount, if you set one.
  • cu=INR says the amount is in rupees.
  • tn is a note, if you add one.

There's no password, PIN, bank login or balance in it. Nobody can take money from your account with it: every payment out has to be approved by you, on your own phone, with your UPI PIN (or your fingerprint or face, if you've turned that on). That's why a UPI QR can be printed on a shop shutter.

Two things it does reveal: your UPI ID, and anything you put in the name and note. If your UPI ID is your mobile number, anyone who scans the code can read that number.

Because it's a public format, every UPI app reads it the same way. The QR itself doesn't call ezyupi when it's scanned and keeps working even if this site goes offline.

What your customer sees when they scan

Since 30 June 2025, NPCI has required UPI apps to show the payer the account holder's name from the bank's records, and stopped them from displaying a name taken from a QR code. So whatever you type in the name field, your customer sees the name your bank holds, such as "RAKESH K SHARMA".

That makes the name field simple:

  • Leave it blank, or
  • type your name exactly as your bank shows it.

Don't put your shop name in the code. Print "Sharma Kirana" on the card around the QR, where customers read it, and let the app show your bank name on screen. A customer who sees an unexpected name on the payment screen should stop and ask, and that habit protects your shop too.

Why the name doesn't match, and what to do

PNG for WhatsApp, SVG for the printer

A PNG is a fixed grid of pixels. Blow it up for a standee and the edges go soft, which is what makes a phone camera hesitate under a shop tube light.

Every code here downloads as both. Use the PNG for WhatsApp and screens, and the SVG for anything a printer touches. An SVG is drawn as shapes, so it stays sharp from a sticker to a shutter.

Print templates and sizes

Make it yours without breaking it

The "Customise the QR" panel changes the dot style and colours, adds a centre logo (up to 500 KB) and puts a short frame line such as "Scan to pay" above the code. Each is safe if you keep three rules.

Keep it dark on light. Dark dots on a white or pale background. The panel warns you when the contrast is too low, because a mid-grey code on cream scans badly on a dim counter. Avoid light codes on dark backgrounds, which many phone cameras can't read.

Keep the logo small. QR codes can lose part of their pattern and still scan. When you add a logo, ezyupi switches the code to the highest error-correction level (H), which can recover about 30% of the code, and sizes the logo for you. A simple, high-contrast logo scans best.

Leave the white border alone. The blank margin around the code is part of it. A frame or border should sit outside it.

Whatever you change, scan the finished code with your own UPI app before you print it.

Both work, with two limits your customer may hit. These are NPCI rules, so they apply to every QR generator, not only this one.

A QR picture. Your customer has to save it and pick it from their gallery inside the UPI app. For a personal UPI ID, apps allow at most ₹2,000 per payment this way, and show a message like "You can pay upto 2000 for QRs selected from gallery". Scanning the code with the camera, from another phone or a printout, isn't limited like this.

A pay link. It opens a page with the amount, a Pay button, the QR and your UPI ID, which they can tap to copy (plus your name, if you added one). Since 1 April 2024, NPCI has told UPI apps not to complete payments started from a link or button when the money goes to a personal UPI ID. Your customer may see "This transaction may be risky. For your safety, it can't be completed at this time." When that happens, they tap your UPI ID on the page to copy it and pay to it from their app's send-money option. Paying to a typed UPI ID works for any amount within their normal limit.

For amounts above ₹2,000, the simplest instruction is: "Copy my UPI ID from the link and pay to it."

Links and buttons do work for verified merchants: UPI IDs issued with a merchant account from a bank or payment company.

QR code or payment link: which to send

Your money never touches us

ezyupi makes a standard UPI payment code. That's all. When someone pays, the money moves from their UPI app to your bank account, exactly as it would with any other UPI QR. We never process, hold or receive it, and we are not affiliated with NPCI, any bank or any UPI app.

It also means we can't see your payments. Check what came in on your bank's SMS alerts and in your own UPI app.

What we keep, and what we don't

No account, no email, no phone number. We don't ask who you are.

The QR is drawn in your browser. To build the short pay link at the same time, what you type (UPI ID or account number and IFSC, name, amount and note) is sent to our server as you type, encrypted into the link and not saved. The encrypted link also appears in your browser's address bar. Anyone you give the link to can open it and see those details, the same as on the QR.

Pages you choose to host are different. Pay pages, invoices, payment requests and group collections are saved on our server so their links work, and each comes with a private edit link.

One UPI QR scans in every UPI app

A UPI QR made from your UPI ID isn't tied to an app. The same code works in Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay, WhatsApp, CRED, and every bank app that supports UPI. Your customer doesn't need the app your UPI ID came from, and never needs ezyupi.

Where to put it

On the counter. A laminated card next to the till, with your UPI ID printed underneath for anyone whose camera struggles. NPCI's brand guidelines ask merchants to show their UPI ID below the QR, and our print templates do this for you.

Counter cards and standees

On WhatsApp. Send the pay link for small amounts, and your UPI ID for larger ones (see above).

In your Instagram bio and stories. The link in your bio, the QR in a story for anyone who'd rather screenshot it. Remember the ₹2,000 limit on screenshots for personal UPI IDs.

On your bills. Put a QR with the amount already filled in on the invoice.

Invoice with a UPI QR

On your visiting card and Google Business Profile. A printed QR turns "I'll pay you later" into "done".

Check it every morning. Scammers have pasted their own QR codes over shops' codes overnight. Scan your own card before you open, and if the name on screen isn't yours, replace it.

About the merchant charge. In September 2026, NPCI announced a merchant discount rate of 0.4% (capped at ₹300) on merchant payments above ₹2,000, with a flat ₹5 for some categories such as railways, telecom, insurance and fuel. Small merchants in UPI's small-merchant (P2PM) category receiving up to ₹1 lakh a month through UPI QR are exempt, merchants can't pass the charge on to customers, and person-to-person payments stay free. It was due on 15 October 2026, but on 13 October NPCI postponed it to "immediately post Diwali", with the date to be notified. As of 29 October 2026, no new date has been announced.

Plenty of shops use both: a merchant QR at a busy till, and ezyupi codes for WhatsApp orders and fee reminders.

Using your personal UPI ID for business

Many small shops start with a personal savings account, and that works. Two things are worth knowing before you print a hundred cards.

Keep your records readable. Shop takings, family transfers and refunds all land in the same statement and look alike. The note field helps; a separate current account in the business name helps more.

UPI leaves a complete record. Receiving UPI payments doesn't create tax by itself, but tax departments do read UPI data. In July 2025, Karnataka's Commercial Taxes Department sent notices to traders whose UPI receipts crossed ₹40 lakh, mainly to push them to register for GST. Keep your records so you can explain your credits if asked.

UPI QR code kaise banaye

Apni UPI ID upar wale box mein type kijiye, jaise 9876543210@ybl. QR turant ban jayega. Fees ya kiraye jaisi fixed raqam ho to amount daal dijiye; dukaan ke counter ke liye amount khaali chhodiye, taaki customer khud bill type kare. Note mein "Fees Oct" ya "Flat 304" likh dijiye, taaki passbook mein pata chale ki paisa kis cheez ka aaya.

Naam ka box khaali chhod dijiye, ya wahi naam likhiye jo bank mein hai. Customer ki screen par waise bhi aapka bank wala naam hi dikhta hai.

Phir PNG download karke WhatsApp par bhejiye, ya SVG download karke print karwa lijiye. Koi signup nahi, koi charge nahi, aur paisa seedha aapke bank khaate mein aata hai.

Questions people ask at the counter

Is this really free?

Yes. Making a QR costs nothing, and we never take a cut of your payments, because they don't pass through us.

Does the money pass through ezyupi?

No. The QR points straight at your UPI ID. Payment goes from your customer's app to your bank, and we never see it.

What should I put in the name field?

Your name exactly as your bank holds it, or nothing. Since 30 June 2025, the payer's app shows your bank-registered name anyway. Print your shop name on the card instead.

Which apps can scan this QR?

Any UPI app, when the code is made from a UPI ID. It follows NPCI's standard format, so it isn't tied to one app. If you made it from an account number and IFSC, test it in PhonePe and Paytm first: they often refuse those codes.

Should I put a fixed amount in the QR?

Only for a known amount: fees, rent, maintenance, a fixed price. For a shop counter, leave it open so the customer types the bill.

Why can't my customer pay more than ₹2,000 from a screenshot?

NPCI limits payments to ₹2,000 when a personal UPI ID's QR is picked from the phone's gallery. Ask them to scan it with the camera from another screen, or to pay to your UPI ID directly.

Why does my pay link say "This transaction may be risky"?

Since April 2024, UPI apps block link and button payments to personal UPI IDs. The link page shows your UPI ID; your customer taps it to copy it and pays to that ID instead.

Can someone find my phone number from my QR?

If your UPI ID is your mobile number, yes: it's written inside the code. If you'd rather not share it, check whether your UPI app lets you use a UPI ID without your number.

Is it safe to share my UPI ID?

Yes. A UPI ID is an address for receiving money. Nobody can take money from your account with it: every payment out has to be approved by you, on your phone, with your UPI PIN (or fingerprint or face, if you've turned that on). Never share your PIN or an OTP, and never enter your PIN to receive money.

How UPI scams work

Can I use my bank account number instead?

Yes. Use the Bank account tab, enter your account number and IFSC, and the code is built in the format [email protected]. Some apps, PhonePe and Paytm among them, often refuse these codes, so test it in the apps your customers use and scan it with your own app before printing.

How that works

Will my QR code stop working?

Not unless your UPI ID or bank account changes. The QR is your address written as a pattern; it doesn't expire and we can't switch it off. The pay link is different: it opens a page on ezyupi.com, so it needs our site to be online.

Can I have more than one QR?

Yes. Make an open-amount code for the counter and fixed-amount codes for fees, one per flat or one per student.

Make up to 500 QR codes at once

Will I be charged when the new UPI charges start?

Not for payments to a personal UPI ID; those are person-to-person and free. The announced merchant charge applies to merchant payments above ₹2,000, exempts small (P2PM) merchants receiving up to ₹1 lakh a month through UPI QR, and was postponed in October 2026.

Is this the same as a BharatQR?

No. BharatQR is a separate standard used for merchant codes that card networks and banks issue. An ezyupi code is a UPI QR, which every UPI app reads.

Do I need the internet for the QR to work?

You don't. A printed QR works with no connection on your side. The person paying needs data or Wi-Fi.

How big should I print it?

About a tenth of the distance it's scanned from, and never smaller than 2.5 cm. ezyupi's A5 counter standee prints the code at about 9–11 cm and the A4 poster at 13–15 cm.

Print size guide

UPI QR code kaise banaye?

Upar apni UPI ID daaliye, jaise 9876543210@ybl, aur QR turant ban jaata hai. Fixed amount chahiye to amount bhi daal dijiye.
