Enter the total, choose the parts, and get a link and QR for each, labelled so both of you know which is which. Tick each one off as it arrives.
Why split a payment
Deposit and balance. Half on booking, half on delivery. Two links, two clear notes.
Instalments. A course fee across three months: one link per month, sent when it's due.
Milestones. A freelance project paid in stages as work is delivered.
The payer's daily limit. Most banks allow up to ₹1,00,000 a day between people, some less, and a new UPI user can send only ₹5,000 in their first 24 hours. A very large payment may need to be spread over a few days.
Setting up a schedule
| Part | When | Note on the link |
|---|---|---|
| 1 of 3 | On booking | "Course Jan 1 of 3" |
| 2 of 3 | 1 February | "Course Jan 2 of 3" |
| 3 of 3 | 1 March | "Course Jan 3 of 3" |
Write the schedule into your first message too, so the payer knows the whole plan, not just the first part.
Label every part
"Course Jan 1 of 3" in the note, the same pattern as the table. Unlabelled instalments are impossible to reconcile and lead to the conversation about whether the second one was ever sent.
Put it in writing
For anything large, agree the total, the parts and the dates in a message or a simple invoice before the first payment. It protects both of you if plans change.
Paying more than ₹2,000 from a screenshot? Don't split it
If you've hit "You can pay upto 2000 for QRs selected from gallery", the fix isn't to break the amount into ₹2,000 pieces. That limit applies only to QR images picked from a phone's gallery, for personal UPI IDs and unverified merchants. The full amount goes through if the payer:
- pays to the UPI ID directly from their UPI app's send-money option, or
- scans the QR with the camera from another phone or a printout.
Questions
Can I split a UPI payment into instalments?
Yes. Make a link per instalment with its own amount and note, and add the due date for each part.
Why would a payment need splitting?
Deposits and balances, instalment plans, milestone billing, or an amount above the payer's daily UPI limit.
Should I split a payment to get around the ₹2,000 gallery limit?
No. Pay to the UPI ID or scan the QR with the camera instead; neither has that limit.
Should I split a sale to avoid the merchant charge?
No. The announced charge (postponed as of 29 October 2026) would apply to each merchant payment above ₹2,000. It's the merchant's cost and can't be passed to the customer. This tool is for genuine instalments, not for breaking one sale into pieces under ₹2,000.
UPI se payment kishton mein kaise le?
Har kisht ke liye alag link banaiye, apne amount, note aur tareekh ke saath, jaise "Course Jan 1 of 3". Pehle message mein poora plan likh dijiye. Ek hi bill ko ₹2,000 ke tukdon mein mat todiye: gallery wali limit se bachne ke liye customer aapki UPI ID par seedha bhej sakta hai ya camera se QR scan kar sakta hai.
